Housekeeping

  • If you have not done so yet, please log in to MyCBE to complete important forms.
  • Please, if you send your child with a meal that requires cutlery (fork, spoon), also send them with the required cutlery.
  • If your child is playing on a sports team, please pick them up right at the end of their games and practices. Our teachers generously volunteer their time, and like the kids, are tired by the end of the day.

Sports Teams

Students must return their Annual Authorization for Athletic tryouts (sent home last Friday) to their Phys Ed teacher before they participate.

Cross Country, Soccer and Basketball are all up and running. Thank you to all students who tried out for our soccer teams, and boy’s basketball. For our senior girl’s basketball team, the first official tryout is Tuesday Sept. 19 from 2:30-3:45pm.

Terry Fox – Sept. 21

Terry Fox is a Canadian legend and every year we run in his honor to raise funds for his cause. This year we will be running as a school on Thursday September 21st. Everyone over their lifetime will be touched in some way by cancer and so we, as a community should always try our best to advocate for people affected by this horrible disease.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day – Sept. 30

Both the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day take place on September 30. Because CBE schools are closed on this important occasion, we will engage students in learning about its significance on Thursday September 29.

Orange Shirt Day is an Indigenous-led grassroots commemorative day intended to raise awareness of the individual, family and community inter-generational impacts of residential schools, and to promote the concept of “Every Child Matters”. The orange shirt is a symbol of the stripping away of culture, freedom and self-esteem experienced by Indigenous children over generations.

On September 30, all Canadians are encouraged to wear orange to honour the thousands of Survivors of residential schools, and their contributions to Canada’s rich cultural heritage.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation & Orange Shirt Day Event - Sept. 30

CBE students, staff and their families and friends are invited to join an event being hosted by the City of Calgary in partnership with the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District. The third annual ceremonial opening is taking place on Sept. 30 from 9-10:30 a.m. at Fort Calgary (750 9th Ave SE). This year's gathering will include a smudge tent, in-person Indigenous speakers and performers, an aerial salute ceremony, and other events. The events will also include an intertribal dance demonstration featuring Indigenous students from the CBE and CCSD. Participants are encouraged to wear orange.

Following the YYC, CBE & CCSD event, all are invited to join the Pokaiks – The Children Commemorative Annual Walk and Gathering 2023. The walk will begin at 11 a.m. at City Hall (15-minute walk from Fort Calgary or 2-minute drive) and continue to Shaw Millennium Park (30-minute walk). The walk will be followed by drumming/dancing, Indigenous community speakers, artisan booths, and food sales.
